Below we have given you access to the class policy forms that we will be handing out on the first day of spring semester, Tuesday, January 21st.

Welcome
to Chemistry Class! My name is Mr. Sullivan and I will be your host
for the next 18 weeks. Pay close attention to the following policies
and our time together should be productive.
ATTENDANCE
- Show up for class every day possible !!!!!!!!!!
- Attendance is the #1 key to success in this class.
- Show up on time. Tardies – follow school policy
- Be prepared with class materials:
book, 3-ring binder with paper, pencil, calculator
CLASS POLICIES
- Distractions are not allowed. Please act with maturity and respect at all times. (cell phones and texting are distractions)
- Safety is essential - don‘t risk accidents by goofing around and don’t take chances. If I can’t trust you – I will have you dropped from the class.
- We follow all rules and discipline policies as outlined in your student handbook.
- No coats, hats. If you bring/wear a coat or hat to class I will send you to your locker, you will be marked tardy.
- Bags, purses, etc.. must be placed on the floor, or under desk. Music devices, headphones, cell phones, etc - not allowed unless specific directions are given to use them.
- No drinks or food in the lab areas – you can have them at your desk
- Do not ask to go to bathroom before class starts or at the beginning of class.
There is usually a “down” time later in class when you can ask to be excused.

GRADING
Your grade is based on 70% tests, and 30% other work
(labs, homework, in-class work, etc..). Tests will cover: lecture
notes, worksheets, book problems/questions, reading assignments, and
labs. Some labs require a full write-up and the others will be followed
by a quiz. There will be a cumulative exam at the end of the semester. Your semester grade will be based on 45% from the first quarter and 55% from the second quarter.
If you have an excused absence you will be allowed to make up the
work. Late work is discouraged and will result in lower scores.
95 - 100 A 80 - 82 B- 67 - 69 D+
90 - 94 A- 77 - 79 C+ 63 - 66 D
87 - 89 B+ 73 - 76 C 60 - 62 D-
83 - 86 B 70 - 72 C- 0 - 59 F
COPYING – if I determine that you have copied any part of an assignment, lab, or test, or allowed another student to copy your work –you will receive a zero for the assignment. It is good to help each other to learn how to do something, but your work should come from you and only you.
